Backyard Builder is run by A couple in their late 30s who bought a fixer-upper on a half-acre lot in rural North Carolina and discovered that calling a contractor for every backyard project would bankrupt them faster than the mortgage. Started with a simple storage shed that took three weekends instead of one, and have not stopped building since -- a chicken coop, a raised deck, a pergola, and a workshop that is technically still in progress. She handles the planning and he handles the power tools, though those roles blur constantly. Not contractors, not architects, not even good at measuring twice -- just two people who learned that good plans and enough stubbornness can build almost anything..
